Our first training in orality started on the 15th-16th of September 2017 at Grace Evangel Mission Inc. facility in Lagos, Nigeria. We had in attendance 43 participants from Sierra Leone, Togo, Benin, Cameroon and Nigeria. Leaders from different ministries sent their delegates to learn how to apply this skill in the oral communities where they work. We were blessed to have Bill Smith and Matt Brenarm – two of our friends from the US with us - who assisted in the training.
Areas covered included Knowing what orality is, storying in orality, sharing the gospel in orality, discipling in orality, obedience discipleship, evangelizing other religious communities in orality, leading oral community church, drama , community Bible studies in orality, local proverbs, local songs, prayer, fasting, persecution, etc.
We hope to conduct more of such trainings in different countries in the coming year and we are open to come to train any MANI member group in different locations. We like to learn also what others are doing in orality.
